Ukrainian lawmakers propose expanding exemptions from military draft
Ukrainian lawmakers propose to expand the list of individuals exempt from military conscription, MP Oleksiy Honcharenko from the European Solidarity party wrote on Telegram on July 2.
He highlighted the importance of this amendment to Mobilization bill to avoid injustice in Ukrainian society.
Half-siblings of deceased or missing soldiers should also be granted exemption from mobilization, Honcharenko believes.
"The mobilization law now only includes 'full sibling' as a category, therefore, I propose correcting this injustice by adding the term 'half-sibling'."
The relevant bill, No. 11391 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) on July 2, the parliament's website said.
The bill's authors include Arseniy Pushkarenko from the Servant of the People party, Yulia Tymoshenko from Batkivshchyna, and Solomiia Bobrovska from Holos.
