“Surrender for your own safety” advises Ukrainian intelligence to traitors
All collaborators, traitors, and war criminals should surrender to Ukrainian justice for their own safety, Andriy Yusov, a spokesperson for Ukrainian military intelligence, said during on national television on Dec. 7.
“Such a move would guarantee traitors the observance of their rights, safety, and regular meals, in contrast to the perilous situation in the territory of the aggressor country,” stated Yusov.
“Fair punishment will undoubtedly catch up with every criminal.”
Addressing the recent assassination of traitorous ex-MP Illia Kyva, Yusov added that Russian media has shied away from delving too deeply into his death.
“Illia Kyva was one of the faces of Russian propaganda recently,” Yusov explained.
“And, of course, excessive promotion of this story is particularly painful and sensitive for Russian propaganda.”
Ukraine’s SBU security service eliminated Kyva during a special operation in Moscow Oblast on Dec. 6, according to NV sources in the intelligence service.
Kyva's “bloodied body”, which had notably been shot through the head, was found in the park area of an elite club hotel. A hotel employee immediately called an ambulance, though Kyva had already passed by the time his body was discovered.
Kyva had fled to Spain prior to Russia’s
full-scale invasion. He then appeared in Russian propaganda broadcasts in
Moscow, actively spreading misinformation about Ukraine. Kyva also sought
“political asylum” and citizenship in the aggressor country.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
