France
will soon start training Ukrainian pilots on Dassault Rafale aircraft, Ukrainian
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said after a conversation with his French counterpart,
Emmanuel Macron, on Oct. 5.
“New defense supplies are now being prepared, and we hope the new package will arrive in Ukraine soon,” Zelenskyy said.
“Ukrainian pilots will also begin training on French Rafale aircraft in France in the near future. This is a strong step for Ukraine’s military aviation.”
According to Zelenskyy, teams from both countries are continuing to work on moving the production of French missiles and bombs to Ukraine.
Paris and Kyiv are also actively collaborating on the Freyja missile defense system. The presidents discussed where they could accelerate the process. Zelenskyy and Macron also agreed to discuss all the issues in greater detail during a meeting.
On Oct. 4, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced
in Kyiv that Germany would provide Ukraine with a new comprehensive support
package worth more than EUR1.3 billion ($1.5 billion). The package will include
weapons, funding to support Ukraine’s energy sector ahead of winter and
financing for the production of interceptors against jet-powered drones.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
