Ukrainian troops advancing in three areas amid counteroffensive
The Ukrainian military has succeeded in the Berdyansk, Bakhmut, and Toretsk areas amid the ongoing counteroffensive, Ukrainian General Staff spokesperson Andriy Kovaliov said on June 13.
Ukrainian soldiers advanced hundreds of meters in all three directions over the past day, he said.
During an offensive operation in the Tavriysk and Donetsk operational areas, the Defense Forces’ strike group units advanced between 500 meters to one kilometer in the Berdyansk area over the past day, taking control of an area of up to three square kilometers, Kovaliov stressed.
Ukrainian fighters continue their assaults in the Bakhmut area and are succeeding near the Berkhiv water reservoir in Donetsk Oblast, where they advanced 250 meters in a day.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces advanced 200 meters in the Toretsk area.
“Currently, not a single position has been lost in the areas where our troops are on the defensive, while the Russian invaders are conducting active artillery fire from the entire range of weapons and conducting air strikes,” Kovaliov added.
Ukrainian defenders moved the front forward 6.5 km and liberated seven settlements in the past week, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar reported on June 12.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
