Ukrainians in US wrongly receive eviction notices, told to leave within days
Several Ukrainians in the U.S. under a humanitarian program received emails this week revoking their status and ordering them to leave within seven days, Reuters reports on April 5.
Letters sent Thursday warned recipients to leave the U.S. immediately or face potential deportation.
The letters also stated that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was revoking their humanitarian status and urged recipients not to remain in the country.
However, on Friday, a DHS representative clarified that the letters were sent in error.
The official confirmed that the humanitarian program for Ukrainians, which was introduced after Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, is still in effect.
