The world marks International Migrants Day on Dec. 18 amid one of the largest migration crises since the Second World War, with millions of Ukrainians forced to leave their homes to protect themselves and their children.
NV has collected key data about Ukrainian refugees. According to UN figures, more than a quarter of Ukraine’s population has left the country, and more than a fifth of those that remain have been displaced from their homes and had to move to another part of Ukraine.
According to the UN Refugee Agency, about 7.8 million refugees from Ukraine were recorded across Europe.
Another 6.5 million of Ukrainians have become internally displaced people (IDPs).
Among the top hosting countries are following:
- Poland — 1,529,355
- Germany — 1,021,667
- Czech Republic — 466,872
- Italy — 164,171
- Spain — 156,753
- United Kingdom — 147,800

The UN also reported over 2.8 million Ukrainians have ended up in the aggressor country of Russia, including abducted persons.
