The U.S. Senate unanimously confirmed Bridget Brink for the role of ambassador toUkraine on the night of May 18, Politico reports.

"To have an ambassador there at this critical time as the United States continues to help the Ukrainian people … is a wonderful thing, is a good thing, and will help advance the cause of peace, security and freedom,” said Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

“I have every confidence she will be an outstanding ambassador."

Earlier, the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee unanimously supported Brink's nomination as ambassador to Ukraine. Within hours, all 100 senators agreed to approve her.

Thus, the Senate ended Washington's three-year stretch without a Senate-approved envoy to Kyiv. The last ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, was fired by former U.S. President Donald Trump in 2019.
