‘We cannot let up’ in supporting Ukraine, Biden tells UN General Assembly
The United States and its allies will continue supporting Ukraine until victory in the war against Russia, U.S. President Joe Biden said in final address as president to the UN General Assembly on Sept. 24.
According to Biden, since the start of the full-scale war, "our NATO allies and partners and 50 plus nations stood up" to help Kyiv defend against the brutal invasion.
“Most importantly, the Ukrainian people stood up,” CNN quoted the president.
“I asked the people in this chamber to stand up for them.”
Biden reiterated that, in his view, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has failed in his primary objective to obliterate Ukraine as a sovereign nation.
“The good news is, Putin’s war has failed, and as has his core aim,” he continued.
“He set out to destroy Ukraine, but Ukraine is still free. He set out to weaken NATO, but NATO is bigger, stronger, more united than ever before, with two new members, Finland and Sweden.”
“But we cannot let up,” the president added, given that Ukraine still relies on international support as the war does not seem to be close to an end.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is also in New York, scheduled to address the General Assembly on Sept. 25.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
