Conflict with Russia enters new phase amid winter challenges – Zelenskyy
The ongoing conflict with Russia has entered a new phase, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Nov. 30.
Anticipating heightened challenges to military operations in the upcoming winter season after the summer counteroffensive, Zelenskyy conveyed his concerns during an interview with AP News while visiting Kharkiv.
Despite facing numerous setbacks, Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine remains steadfast and has no intentions of surrendering.
The combination of low temperatures and barren fields exposes Ukrainian soldiers, creating a heightened risk of Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and civilian populations in various cities, noted AP.
Depleting ammunition reserves raise concerns about the possible suspension of combat operations by the Defense Forces.
“Winter, in general, is a new phase of the war,” the head of state said.
The Ukrainian spy chief, Kyrylo Budanov, earlier asserted that Ukraine’s counteroffensive against Russian occupiers will persist even as the colder and wetter weather sets in, even during the increasing difficulty of the fight.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
