Zelensky asks Macron to stop aggressor

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for Russia to be disconnected from the SWIFT bank payment system and for a no-fly zone to be declared over Ukraine in a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.

“We demand the disconnection of Russia from SWIFT, the introduction of a no-fly zone over Ukraine and other effective steps to stop the aggressor,” the President of Ukraine wrote on Twitter.

Zelensky added that a “package of additional tough sanctions” against Russia from the EU was already on the way.

At 5 am on Feb. 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to launch a "special operation" in the Donbas following a request from the puppet authorities in the non-government-controlled Luhansk and Donetsk territories.

The Russian invasion is accompanied by artillery shelling of Ukrainian cities across the country, with military equipment penetrating the border. Numerous casualties have been reported in Ukrainian cities.
