Zelensky’s office describes Russian tactics against Ukraine
Russia's tactics in the war against Ukraine include, among other things, local “cauldrons” for civilians, believes Ukrainian presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak, in a tweet on March 17, referring to Russia’s attempts to encircle settlements before pounding them with artillery and airstrikes, preventing local residents from fleeing.
“Russian tactics. Twisted trench war on the front lines. Local cauldrons for civilians. Aimed strikes against civilian targets. Delaying decisions on humanitarian corridors. Active attempts to destabilize public opinion in our country, to provoke internal conflicts,” he wrote.
Even according to the most conservative estimates, Russia has lost more military personnel in the three weeks of the war in Ukraine than the U.S. Army has lost in total in 20 years in Iraq and Afghanistan. Every day, the Russian army commits the gravest war crimes on Ukrainian soil: on March 16, the Russians conducted an airstrike on the Drama Theater in Mariupol (Donetsk Oblast), which was being used as the city’s largest shelter for locals, including for families with children.
Ukrainian authorities are still attempting to determine casualties from the air strike.
