Zelenskyy discusses military strategy and increased weapon production
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy led a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff on Aug. 6, focusing on the frontline situation and discussing weapons production, he reported on Telegram.
Zelenskyy shared details of the meeting's agenda, which included an in-depth analysis of the situations on the Pokrovsk, Toretsk, and Kharkiv fronts.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi participated via video link, as he is currently on the ground overseeing the situation firsthand.
Representatives from the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) and the Foreign Intelligence Service provided forecasts on the situation and insights into the immediate goals of Russian troops.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the domestic production of drones and missiles.
"The needs of the Defense Forces by the end of the year and the dynamics of production," Zelenskyy wrote. "Reports by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation Mykhailo Fedorov, and Minister for Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin."
During the meeting, additional funding was allocated for the missile program, Zelenskyy announced.
"There will be more missiles of our own production," the President stated.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov also reported on the supply of weapons and equipment to additional brigades, highlighting ongoing active cooperation with international partners on this matter.
Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov earlier reported that most of the drones used by the Ukrainian military are developed in Ukraine.
Ukroboronprom Director General Herman Smetanin announced in June that the Ukrainian military industry had begun mass production of kamikaze drones capable of striking targets at distances exceeding 1,000 kilometers.
Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Anna Hvozdyar stated in July that Ukraine has the capacity to produce over 3 million drones annually, although the state can only cover part of the financial needs for production.
Ukrainian company Skyeton, which produces unmanned aerial systems, is launching drone production in Slovakia, Defense Industry Europe reported on Aug. 5.
