Kachka appointed Ukraine’s permanent representative to the EU

Former Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka will become Ukraine’s ambassador to the EU and will combine his new position with his current duties as Ukraine’s trade representative within the framework of bilateral trade agreements, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced following a meeting with Kachka on July 17.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Taras Kachka for the “substantive and constructive interaction” between Ukraine and European institutions, stating that more sectoral and detailed initiatives are now required to resolve open issues in EU accession negotiations.
"But we must focus on communicating with both EU institutions and national governments of EU countries to open the next clusters. We are awaiting decisions on four more clusters,” he said. “I believe Taras will be most able to implement this at the Ukrainian Delegation to the EU in Brussels."
Zelenskyy added that “based on Kachka’s effectiveness and experience in trade policy”, he will combine his new EU duties with his current role as Ukraine’s trade representative.
The government replaced Taras Kachka as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration on July 16, appointing Vsevolod Chentsov, the former Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the EU, to the post.
