Zelenskyy and Macron coordinate peace strategy after Trump meeting in Washington

Following his U.S. visit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr
Zelenskyy briefed French President Emmanuel Macron on his White House and
Senate meetings and discussed possible diplomatic steps toward peace, Zelenskyy
said on July 29.
“I briefed Emmanuel on the details of the meetings at the
White House and the U.S. Senate and on the diplomatic opportunities now
available. We must use every chance that could bring us closer to peace, and we
coordinated our possible steps,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.
The leaders also discussed preparations for winter,
including air defense and energy aid packages. France will work to find
solutions, Zelenskyy added.
He also offered assistance from Ukrainian specialists in
fighting major fires in France.
On July 28, Zelenskyy met with U.S. President Donald Trump
at the White House. They discussed licenses to produce Patriot interceptors and
other initiatives that could strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. The
meeting lasted about an hour.
Trump later said the talks with the Ukrainian president went
“very well.”
Zelenskyy also held a closed-door meeting with Republican
and Democratic U.S. senators. The Senate then held its first procedural vote on
a bill imposing new sanctions on Russia and Iran that had been championed by
the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
