Zelenskyy lobbies for more air defense at Davos

Kyiv has secured additional commitments for air defense equipment and ammunition from its international partners at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Jan. 22.
“We are returning home with an agreement on a new air defense package needed to protect our people,” Zelenskyy said told reporters.
Zelenskyy arrived in Davos earlier on Jan. 22 to address forum participants and to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump. He described the meeting as “good, productive, and substantive” and said they discussed ways to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses.
“The previous meeting with President Trump helped protect our skies, and I hope we will strengthen them again,” Zelenskyy said.
“I thanked him for the earlier package of air defense missiles and asked for additional support.”
Earlier, Zelenskyy said Ukraine received crucial Patriot interceptor missiles a day before Russia’s massive strike on the night of Jan. 20, a delivery that “significantly helped” in mitigating the attack on the Ukrainian capital.
