Zelenskyy may visit U.S. this month

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is considering a diplomatic
trip to the United
States before the end of the month, Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne
reported on July 22, citing sources.
During the visit, the report said, Zelenskyy would attend the funeral of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and meet with President Donald Trump. The sources also said officials are discussing who might lead the Ukrainian delegation if Zelenskyy is unable to take part in the planned events.
Opposition MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak wrote on Telegram that Zelenskyy’s trip is planned for the coming days, while Graham’s funeral is set for July 28.
“Given that the trip is planned for the coming days, and the funeral of U.S. Sen. Graham will be only on July 28 in Washington [D.C.] — plus time differences and travel — it turns out Zelenskyy will be away for nearly a week,” Zheleznyak said.
Zelenskyy’s office said on July 22 that the president met in
Kyiv with the U.S. ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, and with Lt. Gen.
Curtis Buzzard, commander of NATO’s special mission for security assistance and
training for Ukraine. They discussed deliveries of Patriot interceptors for
Ukraine.
