Zelenskyy meets Tusk as Ukraine–Poland relations remain tense

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Polish

reported.
This marks their first meeting since different views of shared WWII history have strained relations between Kyiv and Warsaw.
Journalists said each delegation included two people: from Ukraine, Zelenskyy and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha; from Poland, Tusk and Poland’s ambassador to the European Union, Agnieszka Bartol.
The report noted the slim delegations contrasted with Zelenskyy’s earlier meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, when each national delegation had three members. Ukraine’s delegation for that meeting included Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Taras Kachka.
On May 26, Zelenskyy signed Decree No. 440/2026 granting the Separate Special Operations Center North of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine’s Armed Forces the honorary name of the Heroes of the UPA.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki later proposed stripping Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle, Poland’s highest honor, which Zelenskyy received in April 2023 from Nawrocki’s predecessor, Andrzej Duda.

arrived in Warsaw to discuss ways of smoothing over the tensions.
