Zelenskyy ready to meet Putin at earliest convenience

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to hold direct talks
with Russian dictator Vladimir
Putin now, rather than “wait in line” for other conflicts around the world
to be resolved first, Zelenskyy said on June 3.
Speaking at a press conference with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte in Kyiv, Zelenskyy said Ukraine has been waiting a long time for an U.S. negotiating team to arrive for further mediation, Interfax-Ukraine reported.
“We are, unfortunately, out of the spotlight now: the U.S. priority is a peace deal with Iran,” Zelenskyy said.
“The United States is the strongest partner who can push Putin to end the war. I am ready for direct talks with Putin to finish this war rather than wait in line while everyone else ends their conflicts and then it reaches us.”
Zelenskyy has repeatedly said he is prepared to meet with Putin to try to reach a breakthrough on territorial issues. The Kremlin has said it will only hold a meeting to sign a Ukrainian capitulation treaty and has indicated Putin would be willing to meet in Moscow.
Kyrylo Budanov, head of the president’s office, said June 1 that a U.S. delegation plans to visit Kyiv and Moscow soon.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said May 29 that Ukraine has
workable proposals for a negotiated settlement but that trilateral
Ukraine–U.S.–Russia talks are currently “on hold.” He said the format “has
reached the limits of its effectiveness” and that a summit-level meeting is
needed.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
