President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refuses to accept
responsibility for the parliamentary
majority he brought into the Ukrainian parliament (Verkhovna Rada) in 2019,
Anti-Corruption Action Center (AntAC) executive director Daria Kaleniuk told NV
Radio on March 17.
"The fact that there are not enough votes in parliament for critical laws is, in part, President Zelenskyy's responsibility," Kaleniuk said.
"He brought that majority into the Rada under his brand and [election] promises. When he says MPs are very bad and he is very good, he is also avoiding his responsibility. He has to find a way to reach consensus so they will vote."
Kaleniuk noted the president had no trouble convincing his party to vote for controversial bills, including the July 2025 attempt to strip the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) of its independence.
She questioned why the president is yet to put key bills required for EU membership before the parliament.
"If MPs won't vote, OK — but why is Zelenskyy not keeping his promises and submitting the bills needed for European integration to the Verkhovna Rada? For example, the bill on the State Bureau of Investigation: promised to submit it by the end of January," she said.
