Zelenskyy, Tusk agree to draft security agreement
Following talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish PM Donald Tusk, Kyiv and Warsaw will immediately start drafting a bilateral security agreement, Zelenskyy said in a Twitter post on May 16.
“We also directed our teams to begin working on the bilateral security agreement text right away,” said Zelenskyy.
“Such an agreement between historical partners must be as ambitious as possible.”
In the same message, the Ukrainian president said he had warned Poland that Russia plans to target Ukraine’s natural gas infrastructure near the Polish border.
“One of Russia’s targets right now is our gas infrastructure in the west of Ukraine,” he wrote.
He had invited Warsaw to work on a joint plan to counter Moscow’s attempts to “put Europe’s entire energy security under threat.”
