As the United
States commemorated Memorial Day on May 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr
Zelenskyy thanked the country for its support and said that Europe’s freedom
would not have been possible without U.S. leadership.
In an evening address, Zelenskyy said Russia’s invasion is not only an attack on Ukraine but also on the very idea of a free, democratic, and united Europe.
“Without the United States, European freedom simply would not exist,” he said.
Zelenskyy said euro‑Atlantic unity has been the foundation of economic and social development since World War II and that “now, without America, it would be difficult for everyone as well.”
He thanked the United States for its support and said Ukraine is ready to share security and technological experience tested in war. “We offered all of this to Washington; it is very important that there be results,” Zelenskyy said.
He also expressed regret that Ukraine and the United States have been unable for a long time to make progress on expanding production of ballistic missile interceptors.
On the diplomatic front, Zelenskyy announced new meetings Trump administration officials and stepped-up engagement with U.S. society, from Congress to civic leaders.
“This war must be ended, and it must be ended with dignity,” the president said.
“America’s role — the role Russia fears — is not just
rhetoric. America’s role really must and can be a leadership role.”

There is no solution to this, other than independent, honest, and accurate reporting.
