President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Vladimir Putin could intensify attacks on Ukraine as he becomes weaker politically and militarily, urging Ukrainians to heed air raid alerts and use shelters on June 19.

"Putin is becoming weaker — politically, on the battlefield and physically. That is why he may intensify attacks against us and our people using missiles and drones. Please use shelters. I am asking you very much, please do," the president said.

Zelenskyy also said that Putin fears the return of Russian soldiers to Russia and therefore does not want the war in Ukraine to end.

"Putin does not want to stop, and everything he says about wanting peace is a lie," the Ukrainian leader said.

He added that Ukraine remains ready for negotiations, but Europe must increase sanctions pressure on Russia, including by removing exemptions related to the confiscation of Russian assets.

On June 15, Zelenskyy said he had discussed with U.S. President Donald Trump the possibility of a meeting with Putin in the United States.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
