We are approaching a battlefield breakthrough
Western publications have reported the start of an offensive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the south and east. Is this really the case?
Any offensive consists of several phases. Of course, if everything is organized professionally and carefully. The first phase is always reconnaissance by combat. Depending on the available information, the data collected through battlefield reconnaissance, deep reconnaissance, and operational reconnaissance, the next phase may follow accordingly. In the case of our offensive in the Zaporizhzhia region, for example, we primarily worked out the battlefield reconnaissance phase in June.
As a result, we concluded that while our main advance groups will be operating in the security zone in front of the first Russian defense line, we need to use units with limited functionality to pass the entire security zone because there is a rather dense minefield. Only after these groups reach the second line of Russian defense and can align the flanks around their main strongholds on the second line can the third phase begin. This phase involves using the main strike groups to break through the main line of defense.
In other words, everything is going according to the following plan: reconnaissance by combat, involvement of groups of units with limited functionality, and then the participation of the main strike groups.
One way or another, we are approaching the phase of breaking through the main defense line. When this will happen, I have no idea. But the fact that the Western media are writing a lot about it...Well, I will say this: they do not always write what is true.
Yes, we may indeed be very close to the beginning of the third phase - the breakthrough of the main line of defense. But, in general, I cannot say that yet. We have not yet reached the second line of defense in all areas. Yes, in some places, we have already taken the appropriate positions. But we still need to complete the process to align the flanks. This is not apparent everywhere. That is why, like most such publications in the Western media, I am still cautiously skeptical.
Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions are where the most active offensive actions will occur. Luhansk and Kharkiv regions are primarily defensive. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will hold the line there for quite some time. In the area of Bakhmut, the eastern part of the front, in the direction of Staromlynivka, near Robotyno, Pyatikhatky, and Vasylivka, the main intense actions will occur.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
