Sochi oil depot fire, Sept. 4 (Photo: Exilenova+ / Telegram)
Russia’s Sochi
was attacked by unmanned surface vessels on the evening of Sept. 9, according
to local officials and OSINT (open-source intelligence) Telegram channels
Exilenova+ and Ateo.
The attack sparked a fire along the waterfront. One person
was reportedly injured, according to preliminary information. Emergency and
specialized services were working at the scene.
Local Russian social media channels earlier reported a
combined attack on the city involving naval drones and UAVs. Videos posted by
eyewitnesses appeared to show explosions and gunfire, as well as a large fire
near the port.
On Sept. 4, drones attacked an oil depot located just 100 meters from Sochi International Airport, according to Russian news outlet Agentstvo.Novosti.
Following that attack, the airport temporarily restricted
aircraft fueling. On Sept. 7, a fire broke out again at the same oil
depot after the initial blaze had been partially extinguished. Thick smoke once
again rose over the city.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
