Two Russian jet-powered drones flew toward Kyiv from Donetsk Oblast, but only one arrived – Flash

Ukrainian presidential technology adviser Serhii Beskrestnov, known as Flash, identified the jet-powered drone that struck the SBU building in central Kyiv and detailed its origin and flight path on Sept. 4.
Flash said Russian online channels were spreading claims that the attack on the Security Service of Ukraine building had allegedly been staged using a small drone.
He said those claims were false because surveillance systems had tracked a jet-powered Shahed drone flying toward Kyiv from the Donetsk direction at an altitude of more than 7 kilometers (4.3 miles).
He said an analysis of the drone's flight path made it possible to determine the direction from which it was launched. An examination of the wreckage also showed that the drone was a Geran-4, with experts identifying most of its components.
Flash also said two jet-powered drones were heading toward Kyiv at the same time during the attack on the SBU building, but only one reached the capital.
On Sept. 4, Russian forces struck the Security Service of Ukraine building in central Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the drone had been directed at the office of SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad.
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry called the attack a serious escalation and evidence of Moscow's unwillingness to pursue diplomacy. The SBU, for its part, said its response to the Russian strike would be painful for the enemy.
