A military helicopter escorted Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s motorcade during his visit to Chelyabinsk Oblast for military drills, Russian outlets Agenstvo.Novosti and Sirena reported on Oct. 2.

According to the reports, several sections of federal highways in Chelyabinsk Oblast were closed because of Putin’s visit, causing traffic jams that stretched for miles. Traffic was restricted for three days, officially because of “road network work.”

Local media reported that the traffic jams stretched 5 to 6 kilometers . Traffic was nearly paralyzed in some areas, with trucks parked along the shoulders.

More than 47,000 Russian troops are participating in Center-2026 exercises at 11 training grounds and in the Caspian Sea, according to a statement by the Kremlin.

That is significantly fewer than the figures announced for the two previous exercises. About 128,000 people took part in Center-2019, while about 95,000 participated in Center-2015.
