The Russian military attacked Kyiv shortly after midnight on
Aug. 1, launching at least 14 ballistic
missiles in under 20 minutes.
As of 02:35 a.m., city authorities said at least four people were killed in the strike, with 12 others injured. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported fires across four districts of the Ukrainian capital.
In Darnytskyi district, storage buildings caught fire after a strike, authorities said.
In Shevchenkivskyi district, a five-story residential building was damaged, trapping people inside, Klitschko said.
Klitschko also said a six-story nonresidential building in Solomianskyi caught fire after an impact, and a separate fire broke out in a parking area in the same district.
City authorities also reported impacts on nonresidential
property in Darnytskyi and that debris fell on nonresidential property in
Holosiivskyi. In Shevchenkivskyi district, a fire ignited at a car wash.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
