Russia creating buffer zone near Sumy border — DeepState
DeepState / Telegram
Invading Russian forces are establishing a buffer zone along
the international border in Ukraine’s Sumy
Oblast, OSINT (open-source intelligence) project DeepState reported on
April 14.
DeepState said the push began after probing attacks to test Ukrainian control of terrain and identify weak points. Analysts identified the village of Hrabovske as an initial point of advance; pressure has since continued around the Myropilske area.
The project’s latest update shows Russian advances. The newly formed area of Russian control and infiltration, marked as red and gray zones on DeepState’s map, totals about 150 square kilometers along the Sumy border.
On April 13, DeepState reported a new Russian advance in Sumy Oblast, with changes recorded near Myropilske, Maryine, and Novodmytrivka.
Ukrainian military spokesman Viktor Tregubov said the
Russian army advanced near the settlement of Myropilske and that fighting
continues around Maryine. He added that Russian forces have not reached
Novodmytrivka.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
