Russia deploys additional air defenses around Moscow refinery
Moscow City via Facebook
The Russian military has moved additional air defense assets
to the Moscow
oil refinery hit by Ukrainian drones last week, Defense Express reported on
June 22.
The report said several Pantsir short-range systems were deployed around the refinery to strengthen its protection against further attacks. Video posted online showed at least three Pantsir launchers of different variants placed about 300 meters apart on elevated positions, including ramps off the Moscow Ring Road, less than 1 kilometer from the facility. In all, at least four Pantsir systems have been spotted in the immediate vicinity.
"It is possible that a few more were deployed nearby but have not yet appeared on camera,” Defense Express wrote.
“Thus, the number of Pantsirs per square meter around the Moscow refinery is simply off the charts.”
The outlet noted that the redeployment of the systems to the
refinery likely involved pulling them from active duty in other areas,
potentially weakening protection of other strategic assets, opening them to future
Ukrainian strikes.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
