Four Shahed drones strike buildings in central Kyiv — Andrii Yermak

During the shelling that killed two people, at least four suicide bombers targeted homes in central Kyiv, according to Andrii Yermak, head of the Presidential Office on Jan. 1.

At least four Shahed drones attacked homes in central Kyiv, with law enforcement and experts investigating, said Andrii Yermak, head of the Presidential Office.

On the night of Jan. 1, 2025 (from 8:30 p.m. Dec. 31), Russia launched 111 Shahed drones and other UAVs from Bryansk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Crimea.

In Kyiv’s Pechersk district, the drones caused partial destruction of two floors of a residential building.

Debris also fell onto the roof of a National Bank building.

At least two people were killed in the strike, and two pregnant women were among the injured.

In Svyatoshynskyi district, tram tracks 100 meters from the depot were damaged, and a fire broke out in a non-residential building, said Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.
