Moscow has identified Ukrainian defense companies involved in developing domestic missile designs and designated them as primary targets for future air strikes, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on June 2.

Zelenskyy made the statement after a briefing by Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) chief Oleh Ivashchenko. Ivashchenko reported on Russian missile production sites, ranges, quantities, supply routes for critical components and machine tools, and people and companies in other countries that help Russia circumvent sanctions.

The president said Ukraine is preparing updated countermeasures, both domestically and in coordination with international partners. He added that military, political, and propaganda attacks by Russia will focus on domestic firms advancing all types of missile technology.

“Russia views this as a strategic threat to itself — Ukraine’s ability to produce its own ballistic system and to localize production of anti-ballistic defenses,” Zelenskyy said in a Telegram post.
