DTEK plant in Donetsk struck by Russian invaders
The army of aggressor country Russia struck a DTEK enrichment plant in Donetsk Oblast, destroying the building, with no injuries reported among workers on shift, DTEK said on Aug. 27.
According to the company, the plant’s equipment was seriously damaged. A fire broke out at the site of the attack and was extinguished by emergency services.
“The factory’s operations are currently completely paralyzed. Its enrichment capacities are unfit for work,” the company said in a statement.
This is not the first time Russians have struck the facility, which supplied coal for Ukraine’s thermal power generation, DTEK added.
On Aug. 26, reports said that in the Dobropillia community of Donetsk Oblast, 148 miners were trapped underground due to enemy shelling and power outages; one died and three were injured.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia is attacking Ukraine’s energy and gas production facilities in an effort to disrupt the country’s preparation for the coming winter.
