Russian attack hits Pivdennyi port near Odesa, fires break out

Russian invaders attacked a port in Ukraine’s Odesa Oblast overnight, sparking several fires, Ukraine’s communities and territories development minister Oleksii Kuleba said on Jan. 28.
“The Russian army struck port territory in the Odesa region with a UAV, destroying logistical elements and damaging hangars, a locomotive and production buildings. A fire broke out,” Kuleba wrote.
He emphasized that emergency services and port workers are currently working to eliminate the damage.
As reported by RBC-Ukraine, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority added that the attack on the Pivdennyi port caused damage to production facilities and railway infrastructure.
On Jan. 28, Russia attacked Odesa for a second consecutive night, with explosions heard in the city. The regional military administration said Russian Shahed drones hit a private house and the territory of an Orthodox monastery in the city’s Kyivskyi district. Jan. 28 was declared a day of mourning for those killed on Jan. 27, when three people died in a massive Russian strike.
