Ukrainian strikes on Russian battlefield logistics are having a significant dampening effect on enemy activity, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on June 30.

Syrskyi told the Ukrainian TV news program TSN that the effectiveness of strikes against the enemy’s rear logistics is reflected in the number of troops Moscow has deployed on Ukrainian soil.

“The very fact that the size of the grouping is decreasing — today that figure is already 722,000, including the operational reserve,” he said.

Syrskyi said logistics problems have sharply narrowed the number of main directions where Russian units can conduct active offensive operations. Where the Kremlin’s forces once advanced on 13 directions at once, he said, that number has fallen to seven, with four main sectors standing out.

The total number of daily assault operations along the contact line remains high, averaging about 240 to 260 operations a day. But the composition of those clashes has changed: nearly 45%, and on some days up to 50%, are now Ukrainian offensive actions, Syrskyi said, adding that Ukrainian forces have seized the initiative in many areas.

“The enemy’s activity has decreased significantly. I wouldn’t say by half, but by one-third for sure,” he said.

Ukraine’s Defense Ministry previously said that in May 2026 Ukrainian forces retook twice as much territory as Russian forces captured during the same period.
