Russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in Ukraine’s Odesa district with strike drones, injuring 11 people, regional governor Oleh Kiper said, according to Suspilne on May 27.

As of 4:26 p.m., the number of injured in the Russian attack on Odesa had risen to 11, eight of whom were hospitalized, regional governor Oleh Kiper said.

The injured included six men, three women and two children aged 11 and 12, Kiper said.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service of Ukraine said the attack damaged a post office branch, a liquor store, passenger vehicles and a pet store, where a dog was killed.

A large fire covering 1,700 square meters (18,300 square feet) broke out at the strike site, though firefighters later extinguished the blaze.

At 3:05 p.m., authorities said the number of injured had risen to eight, including one child.

Earlier, at 2:45 p.m., the Odesa Regional Military Administration reported that five people had been wounded.

By 2:20 p.m., officials said two men and two women aged between 38 and 65 had been injured in the attack. Two of the victims were reported to be in serious condition, Kiper said.

The drone strike damaged residential buildings, a branch of Nova Poshta and a grocery store. Fires also broke out in several private homes, while cars caught fire.

Emergency services were working at the strike sites, regional authorities said.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Air Force warned of drones heading toward Odesa, where explosions were later heard. Local outlet Dumska reported fires in the city following the attack.

Russia launched 163 drones against Ukraine overnight, while Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 150 of them, according to the Air Force.
