Russian drone crashed in Lithuania carried a warhead, investigation finds
Lithuania’s Public Prosecutor's Office has established that a Russian drone which crashed in the country in July was carrying two kilograms of explosives, LRT public broadcaster reported on Aug. 5.
According to the investigation, the UAV entered Lithuanian airspace from Belarus. It was a Gerbera-type drone armed with a small warhead. Law enforcement officials believe it was a Russian drone that crashed in Lithuania after being jammed by Ukrainian defenses.
On July 28, Lithuanian police recorded an unidentified drone that flew in from Belarus. Locals reported seeing a drone flying at about 200 meters near Vilnius early on that day.
Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) later said it was likely a Russian UAV that veered off course and crossed into Lithuanian airspace from Belarus.
