Russian invaders struck rescuers in Kramatorsk with a drone as they worked to extinguish a fire in a residential building, deliberately targeting firefighters in the line of duty, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said on Sept. 8.

As a result of the attack, a fire truck was damaged, but the rescuers themselves were not injured.

The State Emergency Service emphasized that this is not the first time Russians have deliberately targeted emergency response crews.

In addition, according to regional authorities, four civilians were killed and 10 others wounded in shelling across Donetsk Oblast on Sept. 7.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
