Poland scrambled fighter jets and put its air defenses on high alert as waves of Russian kamikaze drones were attacking western Ukraine on the night of Sept. 9-10.

“Attention, on the night of September 9 to 10, 2025, the Russian Federation is carrying out another massive attack on facilities located in the territory of Ukraine,” the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said in a Twitter post.

“To ensure the safety of Polish airspace, the Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces has activated all necessary procedures. Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems are at the highest state of readiness.”

Several media reports, citing footage circulating on social media, also said that a few Russian Shahed UAVs crossed into Polish airspace, with at least one drone crashing on a road in an urban area.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
