Russian forces have captured Hulyaipole and are concentrating their troops there, analyst and Co-founder of the DeepState project Roman Pohorilyi told Radio NV on July 7.
“We have major problems near Hulyaipole, really major ones,” he said.
“We've completely lost the town; the enemy is concentrating its forces there. They've moved additional forces there and are continuing to apply pressure.”
He stated that he sees no signs of successful Ukrainian operations near Hulyaipole despite recent speculation.
"We remember: 470 square kilometers, where are they? Everyone has already forgotten. We discussed it, we celebrated it, and we forgot about it," the DeepState co-founder added.
The occupation of Hulyaipole
Captain Dmytro Filatov, commander of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment said in a comment to BBC News Ukraine that after capturing almost all of the territory around Hulyaipole, Russian forces crossed the river and began moving toward the city of Orikhiv – the last “Ukrainian fortress” in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
He said Ukraine regrouped its forces and deployed additional troops to the sector at the end of January. The goal was to halt the Russian advance and prevent them from securing advantageous positions for a further offensive toward Zaporizhzhya.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
