Switzerland offered to host Ukraine peace talks — Yermak
Switzerland has offered to host any upcoming international meetings aimed at negotiating a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine, head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, said on May 22.
Yermak said he spoke with Gabriel Lüchinger, Switzerland’s national security advisor, as part of ongoing discussions between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter.
During the conversation, Yermak briefed Lüchinger on meetings between Ukrainian and Russian delegations in Istanbul and on progress in negotiations to end the war.
“We also discussed the future dialogue on a just peace; Switzerland confirmed its readiness to host further meetings on achieving a political resolution,” Yermak wrote in a Telegram post.
A new round of talks between Ukrainian and Russian delegations could take place at the Vatican in mid-June, according to The Wall Street Journal.
On May 19, President Zelenskyy said Kyiv is considering another mid-level meeting involving delegations from Ukraine, Russia, the United States, and European countries. He said the meeting could be held in Turkey, at the Vatican, or in Switzerland.
