Two killed in Russian strikes on Odesa ports

Russian forces struck two ports in Ukraine’s Odesa Oblast on Jan. 7, killing two people and wounding eight, officials said.
Deputy PM and Minister for Development Oleksii Kuleba initially said the attack left one person dead and at least five wounded. At 7:06 p.m. local time, Odesa regional governor Oleh Kiper said the death toll had risen to two, while the number of injured stood at eight.
The strikes damaged port facilities, administrative buildings, and vegetable oil containers, Kiper said. Emergency crews were on site, and cleanup operations were under way. Despite the damage, the ports remained operational.
In a statement, Kuleba called the attack “another strike by a terrorist state on port infrastructure vital to global food security. Russia is deliberately trying to undermine economies and destroy maritime logistics.”
According to Kiper, both missiles and drones were used in the strikes.
