The Bashneft‑Novoil refinery
in Russia’s Ufa has shut down one of its largest crude distillation units after
a Ukrainian drone damaged it on April 2, Reuters reported
on April 3, citing industry sources.
“The CDU-5 distillation unit, which the sources say caught fire, accounts for around 28% of the Novo-Ufimsk refinery's total capacity,” the report said. Three other crude units at the plant remain in operation.
According to data cited by Reuters, the refinery processed 3.8 million tons of oil in 2024, roughly 1.4% of Russia’s total refining output. The facility produced about 1.2 million tons of gasoline, 2.6 million tons of diesel fuel, and 1.1 million tons of fuel oil last year.
On April 2, drones attacked the Bashneft‑Novoil
plant, igniting a large fire. The next day, RFE/RL said satellite imagery
showed damage to CDU‑5.
