Ukraine aims to keep Russian forces bogged down—Syrskyi

Ukrainian units are tasked with keeping Russian forces under pressure along the frontline to prevent them from being able to regroup and build up reserves, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Feb. 11.
Syrskyi made the comment in a Telegram summary of his meetings with field officers in Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.
“I am working with troops on hot fronts,” Syrskyi said.
“At one command post I held a working meeting with commanders of Air Assault units and assault regiments about the operational situation in Zaporizhzhya and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.”
Syrskyi said he and the commanders reviewed conditions at the front and the dynamics of combat operations. They focused on interunit cooperation and command and control in a high-intensity fighting environment, he said.
He said Russian forces continue to act aggressively and try to seize the initiative, but Ukrainian defense units remain resilient and hold key lines.
“Our goal is to keep the Russian aggressor under constant pressure, inflict losses, and prevent any forward movement; the tactics we have chosen are yielding results,” Syrskyi added.
Ukrainian forces liberated the village of Ternuvate in
Zaporizhzhya Oblast on Feb. 8, the military reported. On Feb. 9,
fighters from the 33rd Assault Regiment said they had cleared the village of
Prydorozhne in Zaporizhzhya, which Russian forces had reported capturing on
Feb. 2.
