Flash shows Mesh modems that could be used to build repeaters for Russian Shahed drones

Ukrainian presidential adviser Serhii Beskrestnov, known as Flash, showed what mesh repeaters that may allow Russian Shahed drones to maintain communications while flying over Ukraine could look like on Oct. 5.
On his Facebook page, he showed what such a Mesh modem looks like.
“I want to show you: This is what a Mesh modem with a power output of several watts looks like, and this is what a Mesh modem with a power output of several dozen watts looks like. In other words, these solutions can be used to create a relay for Shahed drones,” he said.
According to Flash, the devices are extremely difficult to detect because of their compact size.
“As you can see, unfortunately, they are very small. They can be hidden, for example, in a private home, a car or somewhere in a suitcase. All the enemy needs to do is connect it to the internet and a power source, and it will work,” he explained.
On Oct. 3, Flash suggested that Russia could be using Mesh relays in Kyiv to control Shahed drones in real time and adjust their strikes.
In the fall of 2025, Flash explained that controlling drones through Mesh networks involves creating a dynamic network of interconnected relays, with each modem acting simultaneously as a transmission point and a relay. In the air, modems aboard drones form a chain in which data packets are automatically rerouted if one of the links is lost.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
