Ukraine hardening Donetsk Oblast roads against drones, minister says

Over 25 kilometers of anti‑drone defenses are being built
along two strategically important roads in Donetsk
Oblast, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said on April 10.
“The State Special Transport Service, at the direction of the Defense Ministry, continues to deploy anti‑drone protection in frontline regions,” Fedorov said.
“The enemy is actively using FPV drones to attack transport and civilian cars. That is why we are strengthening security and installing anti‑drone structures on key routes.”
Fedorov said crews from the State Special Transport Service are building the defenses at a pace of about 1 kilometer a day and expect to finish the two sections by the end of April.
Since the start of 2026, the State Special Transport Service has installed 371 kilometers of anti‑drone structures in seven oblasts: Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson.
In February, Fedorov said the government allocated an
additional UAH1.6 billion ($37 million) for anti‑drone nets. Officials aim to
install another 4,000 kilometers of anti‑drone defenses along roads by the
end of 2026.
