Ukrainian forces struck the Kirishinefteorgsintez
oil refinery in Russia’s Leningrad Oblast with FP-1 drones.
Ukrainian defense company Fire Point reported the strike on Aug. 30,
releasing footage of the attack.
Fire Point said the refinery is part of Surgutneftegas and
is one of Russia’s largest refineries. It can process about 20 million metric
tons of oil a year.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also confirmed the strike on the
refinery.
The facility is Russia’s second-largest oil refinery by
capacity and the largest in the country’s northwest.
The refinery produces motor fuels, aviation fuel, diesel and
other petroleum products. It helps supply the Russian armed forces, the General
Staff said.
The Kirishi refinery plays an important role in supplying
fuel to St. Petersburg and the Leningrad, Novgorod and Pskov oblasts, the
Ukrainian Armed Forces Special Operations Forces said.
Earlier on Aug. 30, a drone attack was reported in Russia’s
Leningrad Oblast. A strike and fire at the refinery were also reported.
