Ukrainian forces still defend Chasiv Yar as Russia spreads occupation fake

Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to hold positions in the city of Chasiv Yar, Donetsk Oblast, Khortytsia Operational-Strategic Grouping spokesperson Viktor Trehubov said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine on July 31.
His comments followed new Russian disinformation claims about the city’s alleged full occupation.
“The situation in Chasiv Yar remains the same as in recent months,” he said.
“Russians are simply lying again, hoping the lie will at least spread in the form of denials.”
The morning report from the Ukrainian grouping wrote that Russian forces continued their assaults in the urban areas of Chasiv Yar, but Ukrainian soldiers are holding the line and destroying superior enemy forces.
The DeepState monitoring group's interactive map confirms that Russian occupation forces are present in the eastern and partially northern parts of the city.
On the morning of July 31, the Russian Defense Ministry spread a false claim that its troops had fully occupied Chasiv Yar as a result of “offensive actions.”
Back in June, Ukrainian forces reported that Russian troops were relentlessly trying to capture the city, but Defense Forces were repelling them with drone strikes. With nearly no civilians left in the city, Russian troops have been using every structure they could find as cover.
The battle for Chasiv Yar began in spring 2024.
