Ukrainian mother dies shielding son in drone strike
Russia launched 273 Shahed attack drones against Ukraine, killing 27-year-old Anna Yefymenko in Kyiv Oblast after she shielded her 4-year-old son with her body, UNITED24Media reported on May 18.
A 27-year-old Ukrainian woman, Anna, was killed while shielding her 4-year-old son, Mark, with her body during a massive Russian drone attack on May 18, UNITED24Media reported.
Anna died from her injuries, while Mark was seriously wounded, suffering eye injuries. He is currently receiving medical treatment. Anna’s parents, who were also injured in the attack, remain hospitalized.
Anna, a photographer, was the wife of Serhiy, a Ukrainian soldier currently serving in the Armed Forces. A farewell ceremony for Anna is scheduled for May 20.
The May 18 assault was the largest drone attack on Ukraine since February. Russia launched 273 drones, 216 of which were intercepted.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
