Ukraine’s paratroopers crush Russian assault in Kursk Oblast
Ukrainian paratroopers jointly with other Defense Forces' units, successfully thwarted a Russian mechanized attack in Kursk Oblast, Air Assault Forces wrote on Facebook on Dec. 23.
They shared a video, capturing one of many instances where Russian armored vehicles, accompanied by infantry, attempted to storm Ukrainian positions early in the morning. However, all attacks were decisively repelled.
The parts of the Russian armored column were destroyed before troops could disembark, with the remaining vehicles and personnel neutralized using anti-tank weapons, drones, and artillery strikes.
"Russian infantry was finished off in nearby treelines and shelters," Ukrainian soldiers said.
Paratroopers' battles against Russian forces in Kursk Oblast
On Nov. 11, Ukraine’s 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade released footage showing intense combat as they repelled an assault by Russia's 810th Marine Brigade. Over two days, Ukrainian forces successfully eliminated 28 enemy vehicles and more than 100 soldiers.
On Dec. 9, troops from the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade shared another battle video, highlighting their victory over another Russian assault. They also captured 11 Russian soldiers from the 11th Air Assault Brigade.
"The ill-fated Russian paratroopers were misled about the real situation on the battlefield," Ukrainian troops recounted.
"As soon as fighting started, their leadership fled, leaving a wounded Russian commander begging his subordinates to finish him off."
