Police and emergency crews are working to defuse an unexploded Russian ballistic missile found among residential buildings in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district after an overnight attack, police said on Oct. 7.
Explosives experts from Kyiv police and units of the State Emergency Service are working at the scene.
Specialists will remove the warhead and transport it to a training ground for disposal.
Access to the area has been restricted. Law enforcement officials urged residents not to approach the site while the work is underway and to contact police or emergency services if they find other suspicious objects.
Russia launched a combined attack on Ukraine overnight using ballistic missiles, nearly 50 cruise missiles and 130 drones. Powerful explosions were heard in Kyiv, with strikes reported in several districts. Two people were killed in the Darnytskyi district, while an office and warehouse building was destroyed in the Podilskyi district.
Russia also struck an apartment building in Pryluky, Chernihiv Oblast, destroying one section of the building. Rescuers are searching for people under the rubble. Four people have been reported killed and 20 injured.
In Kremenchuk, Poltava Oblast, two people were killed in the Russian attack, which caused extensive damage to houses and apartment buildings.
Strikes were also reported in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
